Living Wisely

As Spring approaches, many of us think about doing a little spring cleaning. It is great to knock off the cobwebs of winter and give our homes inside and out a face lift. I believe our lives could sometimes use a little face lift or tune up. The real definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. If you want something new, fresh or different in your life, you have to do something different. It’s amazing how often we expect different results by doing the same thing over and over.

Many of us resist change because we become immobilized by it. We see so much that needs to be changed that we don’t know where to start. The truth is we may be just simply lacking an idea. Maybe we don’t see all the possibilities and another person could help us think of angles or possibilities we had never thought of. I love what the writer of Proverbs says “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed. Proverbs 15:22 If my own wisdom has gotten me thus far in life, there is no doubt that greater wisdom is needed!

Why go round and round in circles banging your head against the wall, when advice from someone wiser and with more experience might just be the answer? Find the person who is doing what you want to do in life or where you want to be and seek out their counsel. From starting a new business or career to financial planning, to just about anything, there are people who are not only doing it better but could no doubt help you to avoid some pitfalls.

Why not give your life a face lift this spring? I believe God has wisdom for us! If we seek Him and the wisdom of others, we will grow wise. “He who walks with the wise grows wise but a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20 Expand your circle of influence. Find someone who can speak into your life. Go to the library or bookstore and read all you can. Let the wisdom of the wise rub off on you. Give your life a new lift!
